Hi, I'm Dan!
Visual Designer & Creative Problem Solver
Art has been a passion of mine since my early days doodling as a child and painting for favorite teachers in school. From sketches, to paintings, and a mural, I have always enjoyed creating pieces for my neighbors, hometown, and high school.
I had never heard of graphic design at the time and thought I might study painting and other traditional art forms. I was even offered enrollment at the well-respected Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Then one day at a career fair, I encountered a design professional who introduced me to the world of digital art. I was hooked, and five years later, earned my bachelor’s degree in graphic design and visual communication.
What I love most about my craft is its service to others, especially to causes I support. I enjoy helping people realize their own passions and seeing their excitement when a foggy idea comes to life. I enjoy how excited they get as their dream unfolds into a tangible reality, and how proudly they display their new mark in the world. I enjoy seeing when hosts and guests interact with fun backdrops and take selfies with high-quality swag. I love helping teams launch a campaign with pride and confidence in their presentation.
One of the most memorable experiences I have was when I spent 10 days in a remote village in Nepal. I was volunteering with a group to help dig out and lay an earth-quake proof foundation for a school that would eventually be built by future volunteers. After each day of hard work, our host families provided us with meals that they prepared themselves out of ingredients they also farmed. Translators were in short supply so communicating during meals was challenging. We also had no electricity and no internet so most of our conversation consisted of long pauses and many confused stares. Despite the challenges, I had brought a gift of writing utensils and surfaces which would become useful to their future school. As I began to sketch cartoons, animals, and other conversation topics, what started as awkward fumbling through translation dictionaries, soon became a night of conversation carried through laughs, gestures, and other forms of visual communication.
There are so many talents and professions that exist that I could only be appreciative of, like the doctor who maintains our health, the technology guru that keeps us connected, and the financial professionals who help us retire. As a graphic designer and artist, I am grateful that my own talents can be used to help brighten someone’s day.
